Online Poker Room Poker Plex to Sponsor Land-Based Tournament

Poker Plex Online poker room Poker Plex recently revealed plans to exclusively sponsor the first annual $400,000 PokerTurn Challenge, slated for mid-August at Arizona's Casino Del Sol. Poker Plex's intended sponsorship of a land-based tournament is further testament to the gradual merging of online poker and its land-based counterpart.

The PokerTurn Challenge expects to host more than 500 poker players, who will be able to enter the Texas hold'em tournament for a buy-in of $500. “Poker has experienced a huge surge in popularity in the last few years, and tournaments are a vital part in facilitating this growth,” commented Poker Plex manager Michael Chambers. “We are honored to be the exclusive sponsors of this inaugural event, and are keen to see the tournament develop further.” Poker Plex offers online poker players a wide range of poker variations from which to choose, including Texas Hold'em, Omaha High, Omaha Hi/Lo and 7 Card Stud. The site is powered by WagerLogic's online poker platform.

WPT Champ Joins Forces with Online Poker Room PokerHost

After taking an extended hiatus from the poker tournament circuit, Hoyt Corkins has been gradually making his return to championship poker, and is now moonlighting with online poker room PokerHost.com. After largely disappearing from the scene more than ten years ago, Corkins made waves once more, when he nabbed first place at the Foxwoods World Poker Finals No Limit Hold'em World Poker Tour event in 2003.
