Poker Show Searching For Players

Small Town Poker Tour

(PRWEB) - The producers of the Small Town Poker Tour announced today the venues for season one.

The following states will be in the first tour, Vermont, Maine, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, Mississippi Texas, California and Washington.

Executive Producer Mark Fracalossi stated, "Anyone with a valid state driver"s license or ID may play". The Tour will pick the towns in each state by the nominations received by the players.

"Get online visit www.smalltownpokertour.com, tells us why we should come to your town", Fracalossi stated. "We are looking for the Small Towns who have interest in hosting us, and local charities that could benefit from us", he added. The producers plan to visit possible sites the next few weeks.

The Small Town Poker Tour will donate 100 percent of the money raised to charity. "We want the money to stay local", Fracalossi said.

WPT Enterprises, Lakes Entertainment Shares Soar on Unsolicited $700 Million Offer

Doyle BrunsonLOS ANGELES (AP) -- WPT Enterprises Inc., known for its televised World Poker Tour tournaments, confirmed Friday that it received an unsolicited offer to purchase the company for $700 million. WPT shares shot up $8.75, or 49.3 percent, to close at $26.50 on the Nasdaq, after setting a new 52-week high of $29.50 earlier in the day. The company's majority owner, Lakes Entertainment Inc., also saw its shares soar $3.24, or 22 percent, to close at $18.09 on the Nasdaq

WPT, which launched its initial public offering last August, said it is trying to verify the credibility of the offer, which does not include specific terms.

2nd Round of World Series of Poker Begins

WSOP - RIOLAS VEGAS - Lady Luck showed no mercy on former World Series of Poker champs and a few contenders who thought they had a chance at the $7.5 million grand prize.

In fact, just getting a seat at the final table that begins Friday will take a staggering amount of luck. To stand a chance of winning the no-limit Texas Hold 'em event, players must land superb hands and avoid bad beats.

The first round of the tournament's main event was a bust for some of the game's top professional players. After three grueling days, the field of 5,619 entrants dropped to 1,884, with more making their exit quickly at the Rio Hotel and Casino.

"It's insane," said former 2003 champion Chris Moneymaker, who got knocked out in the second round Sunday. "It's tough to make money. Every time I made money, something bad would happen. I could never accumulate any chips."
